Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon red food coloring

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup cream cheese, softened (for the frosting)

1 cup powdered sugar (for the frosting)

1 tablespoon heavy cream (for the frosting)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for the frosting)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easier brownie removal later.

Mix Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. It should be glossy and smooth.

Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the vanilla extract, eggs, and red food coloring until fully incorporated and the mixture is a nice red hue.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips for extra fudginess.

Bake: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment overhang. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Frosting: In a bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Frost the Brownies: Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly on top.

Slice and Serve: Cut the brownies into squares, serve, and enjoy your rich, fudgy red velvet brownies!
