4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

1 cup mini marshmallows

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for garnish)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Baking Dish: Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides for easy removal later. Lightly grease the parchment paper with non-stick spray or a bit of butter.

    Make the Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the granulated sugar and brown sugar, stirring continuously until the sugars dissolve. Gradually pour in the heavy cream while whisking until the mixture is smooth and begins to bubble. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens slightly.

      Add Flavoring: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Let it cool slightly to avoid melting the marshmallows.

        Combine Cereal and Marshmallows: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Krispies cereal and mini marshmallows. Pour the slightly cooled caramel sauce over the cereal mixture and gently fold it together until well coated. Be careful not to crush the marshmallows too much.

          Press into the Dish: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Using a greased spatula or your hands, evenly press the mixture into the pan.
