Pizza Grilled Cheese Recipe

Ingredients
  

4 slices of sourdough bread

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup pepperoni slices

¼ cup pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)

¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Optional: chopped fresh basil for garnish

Instructions
 

Prepare the Bread: Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

    Assemble the Sandwich: On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer half of the mozzarella cheese. Add a generous layer of pepperoni slices, drizzle a couple of tablespoons of pizza sauce, sprinkle Italian seasoning, and then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

      Top It Off: Place the other two slices of bread on top, buttered side facing out, creating a sandwich.

        Cook the Sandwich: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

          Flip and Finish: Carefully flip the sandwiches and press down gently. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese is melted.

            Add Parmesan: In the last minute of cooking, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top of the sandwiches and cover the skillet with a lid for a melty finish.

              Serve: Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping. Garnish with fresh basil if desired!
