OREO DIRT CAKE

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tub (16 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

2 cups milk

1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix

1 small potted plant or gummy worms for decoration (optional)

Instructions

Crust Preparation: In a food processor, crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. Set aside about 1/2 cup of the crumbs for later use. In a bowl, mix the remaining crumbs with the melted butter until well combined. Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish to form a crust.

Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping until well combined.

Pudding Layer: In another bowl, whisk together the milk and the chocolate pudding mix until it thickens (about 2 minutes). Combine this pudding mixture with the cream cheese mixture, blending until smooth.

Layering the Cake: Spread the cream cheese and pudding mixture over the Oreo crust in the baking dish. Then, top it with the remaining whipped topping, smoothing it out evenly.

Chill Time: Sprinkle the reserved Oreo crumbs on top of the whipped topping layer for the 'dirt.' Optional: Place a small potted plant or arrange gummy worms on top for a fun presentation! Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to set.

Serve: When ready to serve, cut into squares, and enjoy the deliciousness of your OREO DIRT CAKE!
