Ingredients

For the Wontons:

1 lb ground pork

1/2 cup shrimp, minced

2 green onions, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1 package wonton wrappers (about 48 wrappers)

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Broth:

6 cups chicken broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 teaspoon five-spice powder

2 cups bok choy, chopped

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (shiitake or button)

Fresh cilantro for garnish

Sliced green onions for garnish

Chili oil (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Wontons:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, minced shrimp, chopped green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

      Assemble the Wontons:

        - Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center.

          - Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper in half over the filling to form a triangle, and press to seal.

            - Bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to secure, creating a boat shape. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

              Make the Broth:

                - In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat. Once simmering, add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and five-spice powder. Stir to combine and let it cook for about 5 minutes.

                  Add Vegetables:

                    - Add bok choy and mushrooms to the broth. Simmer for another 5 minutes until vegetables are tender but still vibrant.

                      Cook the Wontons:

                        - Carefully drop the prepared wontons into the simmering broth. Cook for approximately 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.

                          Serve:

                            - Ladle the wonton soup into bowls, ensuring each serving has plenty of broth, wontons, and vegetables.

                              - Garnish with fresh cilantro, sliced green onions, and a drizzle of chili oil if desired.
