Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.

Add Cheese and Ham: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until they are evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk and melted butter together until combined.

Combine Everything: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; it's okay if the batter is slightly lumpy.

Prepare the Baking Dish: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, pour 1/2 cup of melted butter into the bottom.

Spoon the Batter: Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit batter into the dish over the melted butter, making sure to leave some space between each mound.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the edges are crisp.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle chopped chives over the top, if desired. Serve warm, allowing each biscuit to soak up some of the buttery goodness from the dish.
