Ingredients

12 oz pasta (spaghetti or fettuccine)

4 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Extra Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Add the Cream: Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

Incorporate the Cheese: Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until it fully melts and creates a creamy sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.

Mix in Seasonings: Stir in the red pepper flakes (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta into the skillet and toss well until the pasta is evenly coated with the garlic Parmesan sauce.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.
