For the Brownies:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the French Silk Topping:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs (raw or pasteurized for safety)

For Garnish:

Chocolate shavings or curls

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Brownies:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

      - In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.

        - Add in the eggs, one at a time, and stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

          - Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

            - Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

              - Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.

                Make the French Silk Topping:

                  - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

                    - Gradually mix in the powdered sugar and cocoa powder until smooth and fluffy.

                      - Add in the vanilla extract and mix again.

                        - In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until frothy, then gradually add them to the chocolate mixture. Beat on high for about 5 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.

                          Assemble:

                            - Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the French silk topping evenly over the brownies using a spatula.

                              - Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set the topping.

                                Serve:
