Crockpot Hot Dog Chili

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) chili beans in sauce

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)

2 tablespoons tomato paste

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

1 cup beef broth

Salt and pepper to taste

Hot dogs, sliced (about 8-10 hot dogs)

Optional toppings: shredded cheese, diced onions, sour cream, jalapeños

Instructions

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onions until the beef is fully cooked and the onions are soft. Drain excess fat.

Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

Transfer the cooked beef mixture to the crockpot.

Stir in the kidney beans, chili beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.

Pour in the beef broth and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours to let the flavors meld.

About 15-30 minutes before serving, stir in the sliced hot dogs and allow them to heat through.

Serve hot, garnished with your choice of toppings like shredded cheese, diced onions, sour cream, or jalapeños over hot dog buns or on its own.
