Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

2 large eggs

1 3/4 cups milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cooking spray or additional melted butter for the waffle iron

Optional: powdered sugar, maple syrup, or chocolate sauce for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Waffle Iron: Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you have a Belgian-style waffle maker, set it to medium-high heat.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs. Then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently just until combined; it's okay if there are a few lumps. Avoid over-mixing to keep the waffles light and crispy.

Prepare the Waffle Iron: Lightly spray the preheated waffle iron with cooking spray or brush with melted butter to prevent sticking.

Cook the Waffles: Pour about 1/2 cup of the batter onto the center of the waffle iron (adjust depending on the size of your iron). Close the lid and cook according to the iron's instructions, usually around 4-5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.

Let Cool and Cut: Carefully remove the cooked waffle and let it cool slightly on a wire rack for a couple of minutes. This helps them stay crispy. Once cool, cut the waffle into strips or sticks.

Repeat: Repeat the cooking process with the remaining batter, making sure to re-grease the waffle iron as needed.

Serve: Serve the crispy waffle sticks warm with a dusting of powdered sugar, a drizzle of maple syrup, or a dip in chocolate sauce. Enjoy!
