Ingredients

8 oz cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or pepper jack), cut into 1-inch cubes

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Fresh herbs (like parsley or oregano) for garnish (optional)

Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

Prepare Your Cheese: Cut the cheese into bite-sized cubes and set aside.

Set Up Breading Station: In three separate bowls, place the flour mixed with salt and pepper in one, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs combined with garlic powder and onion powder in the third.

Coat the Cheese: Take a cheese cube, coat it lightly with flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, making sure it's fully covered, and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until well-coated. Repeat for all cheese cubes.

Chill the Bites: Place the coated cheese bites on a baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes. This helps them maintain their shape during frying.

Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; if it sizzles, it's ready.

Fry the Cheese Bites: Carefully add the frozen cheese bites in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown, flipping halfway through for even cooking. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired, alongside marinara sauce for dipping.
