Ingredients

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (110°F)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix well.

Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until combined.

Gradually add the remaining flour, one tablespoon at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth.

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into strips (about 1-inch wide and 6 inches long).

Place the breadsticks on a greased baking sheet, evenly spaced apart. Brush the melted butter over the tops.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Once baked, remove from the oven and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese while hot. Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
