Ingredients

1 cup (225g) unsalted butter

8 oz (225g) bittersweet chocolate, chopped

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup (180g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark, depending on preference)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Optional: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chopped bittersweet chocolate together over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well mixed.

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while continuing to whisk. Mix until fully combined and smooth.

Sift the flour and salt together, then gently fold them into the chocolate mixture with a rubber spatula. Be careful not to overmix; just until combined.

Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are distributed evenly throughout the batter.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Make sure not to fill the pan entirely, as the brownies need space to puff.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges look set but the center is still soft and slightly undercooked. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs, but not wet batter.

Once out of the oven, allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, use the parchment overhang to lift them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Once fully cooled, cut into squares. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

For an indulgent experience, serve each brownie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top. Enjoy your gooey, molten chocolate lava brownies!
