Ingredients

2 cups of diced apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1/2 cup of granulated sugar

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour

1 package (16 oz) of refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts total)

1/2 cup of caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg (optional)

Whipped cream (for serving, optional)

Flaky sea salt (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, flour, and nutmeg (if using). Mix well and let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Roll Out Pie Crusts: Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface. Using a round cutter or the rim of a glass, cut out circles (about 4 inches in diameter) from the pie crust.

Fill & Form Bombs: Place a circle of pie crust in the palm of your hand and add about 1 tablespoon of the apple filling in the center. Drizzle a small amount of caramel sauce on top of the filling. Carefully fold the crust over the filling to create a pouch and pinch the edges to seal. Make sure there are no gaps for the filling to leak out.

Egg Wash: Place the sealed bombs on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.

Bake the Bombs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bombs are golden brown and flaky.

Final Touches: Once out of the oven, let them cool slightly. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.

Serve: Serve warm with whipped cream on the side for dipping or topping.
