Flour is the foundation of any baked good, and in this recipe, we use all-purpose flour. This versatile ingredient provides the necessary structure and stability to the dough. All-purpose flour strikes a perfect balance between strength and tenderness, allowing the rolls to rise beautifully while remaining soft and fluffy.

Bourbon Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

For the Rolls:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1 cup cooked bacon, chopped

For the Bourbon Maple Glaze:

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons bourbon

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warmed milk, melted butter, sugar, yeast, and eggs. Mix well and let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture is bubbly.

Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture, stirring until a dough begins to form. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare Filling: In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped bacon to create a thick paste.

Roll Out Dough: Once risen, punch down the dough and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the bacon filling evenly over the dough.

Shape Rolls: Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces. Arrange the slices in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Cover again and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Prepare Glaze: While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, bourbon, maple syrup, and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your desired glaze consistency.

Glaze the Rolls: Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly before drizzling with the bourbon maple glaze.

Serve: Serve warm and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors!
