Ingredients

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

4 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1/8 teaspoon baking powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons milk (or non-dairy alternative)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

A handful of chocolate chips (optional)

A pinch of cinnamon (optional for extra flavor)

Instructions

In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until combined.

Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until you achieve a smooth batter.

If desired, fold in some chocolate chips and a pinch of cinnamon for added flavor.

Microwave the mug on high for about 1 minute and 30 seconds, but watch closely as microwave times may vary. The cake should puff up and look set in the middle.

Let the mug cake cool for a minute before enjoying it straight from the mug. Top with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup if desired.
